Five Things to Know Today, Aug. 4, in Montgomery County

It’s Tuesday, Aug. 4, and today the U.S. Coast Guard celebrates its 230th birthday. You can celebrate its birthday by celebrating National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, which also is today. Here are five other things worth knowing in Montgomery County.

1. Council in Session:  Today is the last time Montgomery County Council meets before it breaks for recess through Sept. 11. Here’s a look at the numerous public hearings scheduled for September, here is the list at this time. And here’s a look at the meeting’s agenda, which starts at 9:30 a.m.

2. Tropical Storm Watch:  A Flash Flood Watch is still in effect for the county due to Tropical Storm Isaias. MyMCMedia spoke to Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management Director Dr. Earl Stoddard about how the county could be affected by Isaias.
