1. Montgomery County Councilmember Tom Hucker and Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot will lead a promotional tour of Silver Spring Restaurant Week this evening. The elected leaders plan to kick off the tour at 5 p.m. with a happy hour social at A.G. Kitchen on Ellsworth Drive. The public is invited to attend.
2. Montgomery County firefighters battled a barn fire that was ablaze on Tuesday night in Laytonsville. Damage is estimated at $250,000.
3. Montgomery County school and health officials are reminding parents to make sure their children are properly vaccinated before school starts on Aug. 31.
4. Road improvements are now underway along River Road in Bethesda this week.
