Five Things to Know for Oct. 9 in Montgomery County

Happy Tuesday! Here are five things to know today, Oct. 9, in Montgomery County:

1. Hispanic Heritage Month: The Montgomery County Council will commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month during its regularly scheduled session this morning.

2. Future of Rockville Town Square?: 

3. 55+ Transportation Expo: Montgomery Recreation is hosting a free transportation expo designed for individuals 55 and over. Activities include CarFit appointments, ride-sharing apps demonstrations, Google Maps seminars, and more.

4. 8th Annual MFANN Fighting Hunger in Maryland: This year’s conference theme, Meals Matter, will examine the root causes of hunger and the structural barriers that produce and entrench communities in cyclical poverty as well as look to the future of policies and practices that are designed to make Maryland a more equitable and food-secure state.

5. Community Meeting on Capital Crescent Trail crossing at Little Falls Parkway:
Montgomery Parks and MCDOT will present concept alternatives for the Capital Crescent Trail crossing at Little Falls Parkway.  Park staff along with MCDOT will give a joint presentation on various pedestrian and bicyclist projects to impact the Bethesda area.  The meeting is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bethesda Chevy Chase High School Cafeteria, located at 4301 East West Highway in  Bethesda.
