Five Things to Know for Oct. 2 in Montgomery County

Happy Tuesday! Here are #fivethings to know today, Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Montgomery County:

1. Outdoor Smoking Ban?: The Montgomery County Council will consider a bill that would ban outdoor smoking at restaurants with outdoor seating during its regularly scheduled session today.

2. The Future of Montgomery College: Residents are invited to attend a forum with Montgomery College staff members, students, and local businesses, and non-profits, to discuss issues and opportunities that will help develop Montgomery College’s MC 2025 Strategic Plan. The meeting will take place at the East County Regional Services Center, located at 3300 Briggs Chaney Road in Silver Spring, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

3. Books & Bulbs: October is National Energy Action Month and Montgomery County Public Libraries is hosting six Books and Bulbs events at libraries across the County.
Books and Bulbs is a free event where residents bring their old light bulbs and swap them for up to three LEDs and a reusable bag.

4. Meet David Trone: The Gaithersburg City Council and Mayor Jud Ashman will host a meet and greet with David Trone, Democratic candidate for U.S. Congress at Pinky & Pepe’s Grape Escape from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
