Today is Friday, May 17 and here is a rundown of five things to know in Montgomery County:
1. Bike to Work Day: It’s Bike to Work Day and there are pit stops across the county, including in Bethesda, Gaithersburg, North Bethesda, Rockville and Silver Spring.
2. Fiscal 2020 Budget: The Montgomery County Council unanimously supported a $5.8 billion fiscal 2020 spending plan Thursday in a straw vote that provides $2.68 billion to Montgomery County Public Schools, an increase of $84.1 million or 3.2 percent.
3. Roundtable Discussion: Adventist Community Services of Greater Washington, the City of Takoma Park, and the Maryland Out of School Time Network are hosting a discussion at the Takoma Park City Hall on creating stronger communities in Maryland through the partnerships between government agencies, elected officials, and non-profit organizations.
