Five Things to Know for May 15 in Montgomery County

It is Friday, May 15, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Business Briefing: Council President Sidney Katz hosts the third in a series of business and economic development briefings at 12:30 p.m.  Email Councilmember.Katz@montgomerycountymd.gov to register for the zoom meeting and submit questions.

2. CARES Act Programs to Help Small Businesses and Non-Profits:  Antonio Doss, District Director of the Washington Metropolitan Area District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and his team conduct a webinar on the financial tools and resources available to help small businesses and private non-profits today from 2 to 3 p.m.

3. Beach updates:  The city of Rehoboth announced Wednesday they would open the beach and boardwalk starting today from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Visitors may use the beach and boardwalk for walking and exercising only. Visitors will not be allowed to swim, surf, or loiter. The beach and boardwalk in Bethany also open today at 10 a.m., subject to restrictions. Ocean City beach and boardwalk are open.

4. MCPS Champions for Children:  The Teacher of the Year will be announced virtually tonight at 6:30 p.m. Watch live on the MCPS website, on MCPS TV or below:

5. East County Food Distribution:  More than 500 boxes of Grab ‘n Go food boxes will be available Saturday at 11 a.m. at the East County Community Recreation Center.
