1. National Consumer Protection Week: Staff from the Office of Consumer Protection will be at the Gaithersburg Library from 1 to 3 p.m. today. Stop by to learn about the OCP’s tools and resources to help residents avoid scams, identity theft and other consumer protection issues.

2. Free Prom Dresses:  High school girls attending Prom 2019 may come and pick out a free prom dress, jewelry, and pair of shoes at Ashton Baptist Church Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. or March 9 from 2 to 6 p.m. Contact Jennifer Williams at dressedinloveministries@gmail.com with questions.

3. Emmanuel Jal: Montgomery College presents the hip-hop artist and speaker Emmanuel Jal at the Cultural Arts Center in Silver Spring. Admission is free, seating is limited. Register here.

4. Fifth Annual Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Awards: The winner of this annual songwriting competition will be announced at the live concert featuring the five finalists. The concert takes place at Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club at 7:30 p.m.
