1. Municipal Monday: Gaithersburg’s Mayor and Council meet at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 31 S. Summit Ave. Here’s the agenda. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 7 p.m. at Rockville City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave. The agenda may be found here. Poolesville’s Town Commissioners meet at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 19721 Beall St. Here’s the agenda.
2. National Consumer Protection Week: The Office of Consumer Protection will be visiting libraries in the county this week to provide information about scams, identity theft, debt collection, credit repair, buying a used car, immigration fraud and domestic worker law. Tonight, representatives will be at the White Oak Library from 5 to 7 p.m.
3. Registration for Head Start: Parents who want to register their child for an MCPS prekindergarten or Head Start class for the next school year can do so staring today. children must be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, and families must be income-eligible to apply. 4. Town Hall Meeting on the WMATA Operating Budget: The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) proposed operating budget for fiscal year 2021 includes cuts to four Metrobus routes affecting more than 65,000 Montgomery County residents. The Council’s Transportation Committee invites residents to a meeting tonight at 7 p.m. to discuss the proposed cuts. The meeting will be held in the Montgomery County Planning Commission Building (8787 Spring Street in Silver Spring). This event is open to the public. RSVPing is encouraged but not required. 5. ICYMI: The Washington DC Temple in Kensington is currently closed and under renovation. From September 24 through October 31, the Temple will be open to the public.
