Five Things to Know for July 23 in Montgomery County
It’s Thursday, July 23, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1.Free COVID-19 Testing: The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services is offering free COVID-19 testing for all county residents today at the White Oak Community Recreation Center from 8:00 a.m. to noon. A government ID or a doctor’s order is not required. Appointments are recommended to reduce wait times. Walk-ups are allowed. Click here for more details.
2. Information for Renters: Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich recommended that the County Council appropriate $20 million from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to expand rental assistance for eviction and homelessness prevention. Click here for more details on how it will help residents in need.
With the Courts lifting the stay on evictions after July 25 and the schedule to hear nonpayment of rent cases after Aug. 31, it is imperative that we support tenants. I recognize that $20 million is not the full amount we will need.
