Five Things to Know for Jan. 16 in Montgomery County

It’s Thursday, Jan. 16. Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Salt-Wise campaign launch:  In an effort to protect the environment, the County will launch the new Salt-Wise campaign to help homeowners and private contractors with the proper use of salt for treating ice and snow. The new campaign will include a website with resources for residents, homeowners’ associations and private contractors.

2. Council Committee meetings:  The Planning, Housing and Economic Development committee chaired by Councilmember Hans Riemer meets at 9:30 a.m. The Government Operations committee chaired by Councilmember Nancy Navarro meets at 2 p.m.

3. Planning Board meets: The Planning Board meets at 1:30 p.m. at their Silver Spring headquarters. The meeting agenda may be found, here. Watch the meeting live, here.

4. Stay Healthy Through the Winter: Learn some healthy tips for the winter such as key foods and supplements to consume, essential oils of the season, how to do a steam, diffuser blends for a cold or flu, and more at the Chevy Chase Library at 1 p.m.
