Today is Tuesday, Jan. 15. Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Students Can Sleep Late: Montgomery County Public Schools are opening two-hours late today because of weather conditions.

2. Back to Work: The Montgomery County government is opening on time today. Federal agencies in the Washington, D.C. area are opening two hours late this morning.

3. Council in Session: Recess is over and Montgomery County Council is back in session. Here’s a look at today’s agenda.

4. Kensington Historical Society: The Kensington Historical Society meets today at the Kensington Town Hall building from 7 to 8 p.m. Andrew Gifford, author of the memoir, “We All Scream: The Fall of the Gifford’s Ice Cream Empire” will be the special guest at this meeting. He’ll be taking people behind the scenes to understand the Kensington ice cream family.

5. Furlough Workers Job Fair: Montgomery County Public Schools is holding an employment open house for furloughed federal workers and contractors today from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 45 W. Gude Drive in Rockville.
