Five Things to Know for Jan. 14 in Montgomery County
Today is Monday, Jan. 14. The National Weather Service says the snow is over. Here’s the forecast.
1. Effects of Snow: The snow might be over, but school has been canceled and administrative offices will open two hours late. Community use of schools has been canceled as well. Montgomery County Circuit Court will open at 10 a.m.
2. Food Pantry: A pop-up food pantry will be open from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Adventist Community Services, 501 Sligo Ave., Silver Spring. Participants must bring their federal or government contractor ID.
3. Budget Figures: County Executive Marc Elrich has planned a budget forum from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the BlackRock Center for the Arts, Germantown. The forum is for residents to help influence his decisions on the fiscal 2010 operating budget, due to the Montgomery County Council on March 15.

4. Council Returns: Speaking of the Council, councilmembers are back in session this week. Today, the members plan a retreat at the Rockville library from noon to 4 p.m.
