Racial Disparities: Democratic Party chair Maya Rockeymoore Cummings and Tiffany Bowman, a member of the Montgomery County Commission for Women, will discuss economic, health and other disparities, the status of the black middle class and the barriers to progress. The discussion starts at 6:45 p.m. and takes place at the Rockville library, 21 Maryland Ave. The session is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County. 2. Legislative Briefing: The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce hosts a session on how pending legislation in Annapolis could affect local businesses. The chamber’s Tricia Swanson, vice president of government relations, will talk about what’s happened, and what the chamber foresees. 3. Embracing Your Personal Power: Montgomery College President DeRionne Pollard speaks at an event sponsored by Montgomery Women. It takes place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Paladar restaurant in Gaithersburg’s Crown development, 203 Crown Park Ave. Details on Facebook.

4. Black History Month: Living history interpreter Shemika Berry will be at the Olney Library on Thursday to talk about the life of Harriet Tubman.

5. ICYMI: Byung Il “Peter” Bang was sentenced to four years on Friday. He pleaded guilty to embezzling $6.7 million from the county.
