1. Council Session: Montgomery County Council will be meeting today at 9:30 a.m. Click here to view the council agenda and staff reports. This is the last council session of the year.
2. International Human Rights Day: The point is to honor the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Traditionally, organizations host cultural events and exhibitions focusing on human rights issues on this day annually. Around the world, many governmental and non-governmental organizations active in the human rights field also schedule special events to commemorate the day. Click here for more details.
3. HIV Testing: The African American Health Program (AAHP) conducts free and confidential HIV testing at various locations throughout Montgomery County. This will be held at the Dennis Avenue Health Center [2000 Dennis Avenue] in Silver Spring from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Counseling and custom healthcare referrals will be available as well. 4. Introduction to Self-Defense: The S.A.F.E. (Self-defense Awareness & Familiarization Exchange) seminar is a 2-hour “sampler” class taught by Rape Aggression Defense certified instructors. This women-only seminar covers educational awareness and crime-victim prevention along with information that may reduce the risk of exposure to violence.
