Five Things to Know for August 2 in Montgomery County

UPDATE: The outdoor movie night at Layhill Local Park is canceled due to rain in the forecast.

We’ve finally made it to Friday! Here are five things to know in Montgomery County for Friday, August 2.

1. Blood Drive: The American Red Cross will be collecting blood donations at the Gaithersburg Library from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Make an appointment by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or online, here. Walk-ins are also welcome.

2. Rockville Town Square Summer Concert: Tonight Natty Beaux, a Takoma Park rockabilly swing band, perform at the free outdoor summer concert at Rockville Town Square from 6 to 9 p.m.

3. Canceled Movie Night: Montgomery Parks canceled tonight’s screening of Mary Poppins Returns outdoors in the Layhill Local Park.

4. Salvadoran American Festival:  The 10th annual festival takes place Sunday, August 4 from 11 a.m. to to 7 p.m. at Montgomery College’s Rockville Campus. There will be live music, a health fair, amazing food, and community and educational resources.
