Five Things to Know for Aug. 9 in Montgomery County

We’ve finally made it to Friday! Here are five things to know in Montgomery County for Friday, Aug. 9.

1. Fair Day: The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair opens at 3 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Gaithersburg and runs through Saturday, Aug. 17.

2. Flower Branch Vigil: Saturday, Aug. 10 is the third anniversary of the fatal explosion and fire at the Flower Branch Apartments in Silver Spring. Community members will gather Friday night at 7 p.m. to remember those who perished.

3. Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week: Tax-Free week starts Sunday and continues through Saturday, Aug. 18.

4. Pool Closure:  Olney Swim Center closes for annual maintenance Aug. 11 through Aug 25.

5. What are you Reading? Aug. 9 is National Book Lovers Day.
