Five Things to Know for Aug. 20 in Montgomery County

Today is Tuesday, Aug. 20 and it’s National Lemonade Day and National Radio Day. Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Operating a Business in Montgomery County:  Montgomery County is offering a workshop about resources available for starting a business in the area. The workshop is free from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 3300 Briggs Chaney Road in Silver Spring.

2. Hoggle Hearing: There will be a hearing about the status of the Catherine Hoggle case this afternoon with Judge Greenberg.

3. Three Indoor Pools Closed for Maintenance: The Olney Indoor Swim Center, Germantown Indoor Swim Center, and Kennedy Shriver Aquatic Center (KSAC) are closed for annual maintenance. Olney is closed through Aug. 25; Germantown and KSAC are closed through Sept. 2.

4. Disaster Loans Available: The Small Business Administration is making disaster loans available to those affected by the July 8 floods. The Disaster Loan Outreach Center will be open today from  11 a.m. to   6 p.m. at the J. Thomas Manger Public Safety Headquarters, 100 Edison Park Drive in Gaithersburg.

5. Rockville Senior Center Presentation: Dr. M. Michael Massumi—who works in physical medicine, rehabilitation, and pain management—is giving a presentation on oral medicines vs. topicals or injectables for muscle/skeletal and neuromuscular conditions from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Rockville Senior Center.
