Five Things to Know for Aug. 16 in Montgomery County

We’ve finally made it to Friday! Here are five things to know in Montgomery County for Friday, Aug. 16.

1. Moonlight Movies at the Mansion:  It’s movie night in Gaithersburg. Bring a blanked and enjoy The Greatest Showman under the stars on the front lawn of Kentlands Mansion from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Admission and popcorn is free. Light concessions, drinks, beer, and wine will be available for cash purchase.

2. Fair Continues: The last day of the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair is Saturday, Aug. 17.

3. Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week: Saturday is the final day to save the 6% sales tax on back-to-school clothes and supplies.

4. Pool Closures: The Germantown Indoor Swim Center closes for annual maintenance Aug. 17 through Sept. 2. The Kennedy Shriver Aquatic Center closes for annual maintenance Aug. 19 through Sept. 2.

5. Metropolitan Ballet Academy Open Houses:  Both the original academy in Gaithersburg and Clarksburg host a community Open House Sunday, Aug. 18.
