Five Things to Know for Aug. 14 in Montgomery County
Today is Wednesday, Aug. 14, and it’s the 74th anniversary of the U.S. victory over Japan. Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1. Takoma Park Meets: The City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Community Center, 7500 Maple Ave.
2. Disaster Loans Available: The Small Business Administration is making disaster loans available to those affected by the July 8 floods. The Disaster Loan Outreach Center will help residents and businesses who may be eligible for financial assistance. The DLOC will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the J. Thomas Manger Public Safety Headquarters, 100 Edison Park Drive in Gaithersburg. Click here for other times.
3. Fair Continues: The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair continues in Gaithersburg. It’s Senior Citizens Day, which means free admission for anyone 62 and older until 5 p.m., and truck drag racing is scheduled.
4. Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week Continues: Just in time for back-to-school shopping, Maryland offers a week of shopping free of the state sales tax. Click here for more details.
