Five Things to Know for April 8 in Montgomery County

Today is Monday, April 8. Maybe some rain on Wednesday, more on Friday, but otherwise a decent week coming up. Here’s the forecast.

1. Budget Overview: The Montgomery County Council starts the first of five public hearings on County Executive Marc Elrich’s $5.7 billion fiscal 2020 Recommended Operating Budget. The meeting takes place at 9:30 a.m. in the Council Office Building, 100 Maryland Ave., Rockville, in the Third-Floor Hearing Room. The April 8, 9 and 10 public hearings are likely to identify programs and functions that residents believe require additional resources, especially since three outside agencies were not funded at the levels they requested. The council staff report can be viewed here.

2. Scooter Magruder: How are dockless E-Scooter doing in Montgomery County? The Transportation department is introducing a demonstration project for dockless e-scooters at the same time as it expands its dockless bikeshare program. The presentation is expected after the budget hearing. The council staff report can be viewed here.
