Five Things to Know for April 3 in Montgomery County

Today is Wednesday, April 3. Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. MCPS Early Release: It’s the end of the quarter at Montgomery County Public Schools, so students are getting a half day today!

2. Breakfast with a Councilmember: Councilmember Craig Rice is hosting an April Breakfast meeting for District 2 area residents. The meeting will be at Grill Marx in Clarksburg from 7:30 to 9 a.m. This is an opportunity for residents to talk about issues with Rice. Additionally, Judy Stephenson, a small business navigator, will be at the breakfast to launch one of the county’s new pilot programs called “Business Assist.” The Facebook event says that first time guests can attend the breakfast for free. 3. Elrich Addresses Energy Summit: County Executive Marc Elrich is one of the speakers at the sixth annual Montgomery County Energy Summit. The summit will be at the Silver Spring Civic Building from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., and it focuses on using clean energy in the county. It’s hosted by the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Green Building Council National Capital Region. Tickets are available at the door for $75. 4. Kensington Council Listening Session: Kensington’s Town Council is hosting a listening session at Kensington Town Hall from 7 to 8 p.m. Kensington residents can stop by to learn about the “proposed Kensington Square Self Storage project at 10619 Connecticut Avenue.”

5. City Academy: The City of Rockville has its second session for their City Academy program tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rockville Police Station. This program helps community members understand how they can use their talents to better serve the Rockville community. In total, there are six free sessions and people only have to be able to attend most of the classes. Here’s more information on the program.
