1. Voice Recognition Technology for Seniors: Paul Burden, founder of Our Voice, demonstrates Alexa and other voice recognition devices to assist seniors aging in place.
2. All Things Frogs: Join county environmental protection staff for training about local frogs and toads and learn about the Montgomery County FrogWatch Chapter.
3. Comeback Careers: A 5-part series of presentations at the Silver Spring Library for anyone re-entering the workforce presented by human resource professionals. Topics include: crafting the perfect resume, networking tips, creating your own elevator pitch, interview best practices, dressing for the workforce, and wage negotiation. Participants can choose to attend one or more seminars.
4. Film Screening of Grit: In 2006, international drilling company Lapindo unleashed a toxic mudflow into East Java, burying dozens of nearby villages and displacing tens of thousands of Indonesians in the process. Documentarians Cynthia Wade and Sasha Friedlander focus the tragedy around 16-year-old Dian, a survivor who is ignored by her government. 5. Spring Break Camps: It’s not too late to sign up for MCM’s Spring Break Camps. The Green Screen Music Video Production camp starts Wednesday, April 17. The 1-day Podcasting – Jr. Edition has two sessions — Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22.
