Five Things to Know for April 1 in Montgomery County

Today is Monday, April 1. Maybe some rain on Wednesday, more on Friday, but otherwise a decent week coming up. Here’s the forecast.

1. Municipal Monday: Rockville meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall, at 111 Maryland Ave. The Mayor and Council are expected to have a budget worksession and declare that April is World Autism Awareness Month. Gaithersburg meets at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 31 S. Summit Ave. Poolesville also meets, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 19721 Beall St. The agenda includes a proposal to allow small cell antennas in public rights of way.

2. Council Committees: The Montgomery County Council’s planning committee looks at animal boarding businesses in commercial/residential zones. The committee meets at 9:30 a.m. in the Seventh Floor Hearing Room, Council Office Building. The committee also will get a briefing on code enforcement. The Public Safety Committee meets at 2 p.m. in the Third-Floor Conference Room to receive a report on the Montgomery County police’s crime lab.

3. Identity Theft: The county’s Office of Consumer Protection hosts a session at the Kensington Park Library at 6:30 p.m. on how to protect against identify theft. The library is at 4201 Knowles Ave.
