UPDATE: Gun Safety Rally Canceled; Five Things to Know in Montgomery County for March 2

five things to know today imageUPDATE: The gun safety rally hosted by Councilmember Sidney Katz has been cancelled.

The National Weather Service expects the strongest winds from today’s storm to occur between now and noon with gusts to 65 mph. Here are five things you need to know today, Friday, March 2 happening in Montgomery County:

1. Schools Closed: Montgomery County Public Schools and administrative offices are closed due to the storm.

2. Government Closures and Power Outages: The weather is forcing closings and cancellations.

3. Gun Safety Rally:   Councilmember Sidney Katz will be joined by elected officials and leaders from the Police to call for action on federal and state gun control at 4 p.m.

4. National Read Across America Day:  Grab a book and join the nationwide celebration on the birthday of children’s author, Dr. Seuss.

5. Woodlawn Manor House Tours: Take a guided tour of the 19th-century Federal style manor house and learn about Dr. William Palmer, his family and the other residents of Woodlawn.
