Father of Hoggle Children Files for Guardianship of Catherine Hoggle

Catherine Hoggle is charged in connection with the disappearance of Sarah, 4 and Jacob 2 in early September.

Troy Turner, who is listed at Hoggle’s domestic partner in court filings, did not want to comment on his guardianship request.

“Under Maryland law, when an adult has been hospitalized (in certain circumstances) or suffers from an illness (in this case a mental illness) which precludes her from making appropriate decisions regarding the management of her financial affairs and care of her person, the court will appoint a guardian to assist in managing those parts of a person’s life,” according to am email from Corey Garver, spokesperson for Shulman, Rogers Gandal Pordy & Ecker, Pa., the firm representing Turner.

According to circuit court records, Hoggle’s mother, Lindsey Hoggle, on April 8 filed a consent to guardianship with the court essentially agreeing to the appointment of Turner as guardian.

“I believe that this appointment is necessary to safeguard my daughter’s personal property interests, to ensure that her health is properly cared for and because it is in her best interest,” she wrote in the filing.

Turner alleges in the court papers that Perkins officials have refused to provide information to him about Hoggle’s condition and treatment. He also alleged that Perkins has refused to permit him or other family members to visit Hoggle.

“At this time, Ms. Hoggle is unable to care for herself, including making medical and financial decisions, including any decisions regarding her children,” the court filing reads. “Because of her deteriorating mental health and current commitment to Perkins, Mr. Turner is compelled to seek the assistance of the court to protect his domestic partners and mother of his children.”

Attorney Catherine McQueen is listed as Hoggle’s attorney on the guardianship case. She was not immediately available for comment.

David Felsen is Hoggle’s attorney in the criminal case against her. Hoggle is charged with three misdemeanor charges of child neglect, abduction and hindering a police investigation.

In the court papers Felsen wrote,  “The petitioner’s filings are a thinly veiled attempt to do an “end run” around the determinations of the District Court, to inject himself (and others) into the treatment and care of Ms. Hoggle and to obtain information to which Petitioner is not entitled and that could be at odds with Ms. Hoggle’s interests.”

A trial date for this case has been set for August 6 and 7.

First sentence–“has” filed, not “have” filed.
I think either Turner or her parents should be able to visit her. Who knows how she is being cared for at the mental health facility. Whose watching the watchers of Catherine Hoggle?
