Vandals Responsible for Defacing Damascus High School Property Caught

Seven vandals who spray painted profane graffiti on Damascus High School (DHS) property, including a brick wall and bleachers, have been caught, according to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) officials.
MCPS Spokesperson Derek Turner says the school is addressing the incident internally with police support and that names and ages of those involved will not be released.
According to Jennifer Webster, DHS principal, school security and the School Resource Officer (SRO) worked together to determine the persons responsible for the vandalism. Webster noted in an email sent to community members on May 2nd, that the graffiti was “vulgar” in nature. Webster also wrote that MCPS maintenance assisted with removing and covering graffiti.

“I wanted to share information with you about an incident that occurred at DHS on Friday, April 29th. Before students arrived on Friday morning, staff found graffiti spray painted throughout the stadium and bleachers. The content of the graffiti was vulgar in nature. School security and the School Resource Officer (SRO) worked collaboratively to determine who was responsible for the damage. MCPS maintenance was also responsive in sending out a team to help remove and cover the graffiti that day. Most of the graffiti has been removed, and we anticipate having the rest cleaned in the coming days. I was impressed with how school staff responded to the incident to help our school administration address the issue with the students involved in a timely manner.”
