COVID-19 Numbers: Montgomery Testing Positive Rate Below 7%; Maryland Below 6%
Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics
Monday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 14,141 cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County, which is a 0.4% increase from the 14,079 cases reported Sunday.
Since the first case in March, 683 county residents have died from COVID-19. This is an increase of three deaths since Sunday, according to the health department. The number of probable deaths is 40.
More Montgomery County residents have died due to COVID-19 than any other jurisdiction in the state. Prince George’s has lost 637 residents, the second-highest number in the state.
The positivity rate of 6.88% reported Monday by the state health department, is the second-highest in the state, behind Prince George’s at 8.6%. For the third straight day, the rate has remained below 7%.
The Maryland Department of Health on Thursday, June 18 announced a goal of testing 10% of the population in each jurisdiction for COVID-19. As of Monday’s report, 7.8% of Montgomery County’s population has been tested for COVID-19.

As of Monday morning, there have been 64,603 confirmed cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 297 cases, or 0.5%, in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 2,945 Marylanders, eight since Sunday.
Currently, 602 Marylanders are hospitalized with COVID-19, which is six fewer than Sunday. Of those patients, 232 are in intensive care, which is two more than Sunday.
There are fewer than one thousand Marylanders hospitalized with COVID-19 for the 15th straight day since April 9.
The state’s positivity rate, at 5.03%, remained below 6% for the sixth day.
A total of 18,657 cases and 1,199 deaths involve the state’s African American community. This is three additional deaths since Sunday’s report.
Here are the statewide statistics as of Monday, June 22. The first column is for the number of cases. The next column is the number of deaths, which is in parentheses. The second number in that column is the number of probable deaths.
Of those 683 deaths in MOCO, how many are proven 100% to have died from this virus versus those that had other underlying medical issues that were severe enough on their own to have caused the deaths ?
It has been report in more than one source that if a person is shown to be tested positive for this virus and they die, the cause of death is to be shown to be because of the virus instead of the other medical issues which were probably the true cause of death.
I dispute the figures on deaths caused by this virus. And if nothing had been reported about this virus, the public would be thinking that we were going thru a bad summer flu season As of June 19, 2020 the CDC has reported an infection rate 6.4% of the public with a mortality rate of 7.1%. .. BUT that mortality rate also included pneumonia, influenza and COVID 19, not just this virus alone.
