County Executive Elrich Statement on Pride and POW/MIA Flags

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich issued this statement Tuesday following Monday’s Pride flag raising. The Pride flag temporarily replaced the POW/MIA flag in Veterans Memorial Plaza.

“The Pride flag did not replace the POW/MIA flag. On June 10th, when the Pride flag was raised, there was not a mechanism in place for both flags to be displayed. This has been corrected, and both flags are flying now. The Pride flag was raised to honor Pride Month and will be replaced by the County flag at the end of June.”

“was not replaced” did you take the POW/MIA flag down to put the pride flag up? Even if it were temporary, it was still replaced. I’m not against flying the pride flag, but don’t think for even a second that it would be okay to take down a flag honoring troops to show acceptance for LGBT people. Pride lasts all month and you’ve had more than that to obtain a mechanism to fly both!

Take that sinful pride flag DOWN. You should not ever celebrate or have pride in sin! Do not accept the homosexual agenda as normal. Do not accept the homosexual agenda in order to be “all-inclusive “.

Never even think of putting up a Pride Flag there at all.
Do you fly a flag of The American Civil War?
You should be ashamed of yourselves!!-!

Yes it was! There’s pictures of it. Pictures don’t lie- politicians do! You’re lying! Evan glass most certainly took down the POW flag and raised the pride flag citing there wasn’t room for both. He said the POW flag would be replaced the next day. He’s on camera saying it! So stop lying!
There wasn’t room because the POW flag is supposed to fly alone and not be taken down until we recover all of our fallen.

This is disgraceful in so many ways! What will happen should all military personnel decided to cease and quit fighting for this great nation? Are you going to send the gays and lesbians to fight our wars? And no, I am not saying there are no gays and lesbians in the military. But I guarantee you that they shall not whimper and groan like the wimps that do not even both to try to serve!

    Now retire that darn disgrace!

Seriously how can you all be so disgusting? I grew up in a military family with my father away for half my life and I can understand simple things like needing to fix something so fly both flags. Your argument that homosexuality is a sin has no place here as that is your personal belief. Being religious is a choice whereas being gay is not. You really need to enrich your lives if a human mistake is the only thing you can think about. How can all of you call yourselves true Americans when you can’t even support the basis on which America was founded. Freedom for all. You are all judgemental and quite frankly disgusting.

I don’t think the PRIDE flag should ever replace the POW/MIA flag. However I do not have a problem with it being in itself. More than one LGBTQ person served and or died defending this Country.

I am a Viet Nam veteran and feel hat the State of Maryland is way off base. The honorable place for the MIA/POW flag is at the VETERAN’S MEMORIAL NOT THE “GAY” FLAG! if you want to fly the “gay” flag in front of a government building fine, but NOT at a VETERAN’S MEMORIAL! This display of disrespect for our men and women in the armed forces should be corrected AT ONCE!
Thank God I do not live in Maryland. I guess you are doing this since the name says it all: MARY-LAND
