The 14th annual Bethesda Literary Festival featured some well known authors, including Kate Alcott, Chris Bohjalian and award-winning author Alice McDermott.

During her event, McDermott, a National Book Award winner and three-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, read an excerpt from her new novel, Someone, due out in September. She also read a poem, referred to the audience as her neighbors, talked about why she still teaches, and answered questions from the crowd about the writing process and her career.

Alcott and Bohjalian teamed up for the second author event and both shared background information about what led them to write their most recent historical fiction novels. Bohjalian is the best selling author of The Sandcastle Girls and Alcott is the best selling author of The Dressmaker. They also answered questions from the audience and Bohjalian gave away book tour t-shirts to some of his fans.

All three authors signed books at the end of their events on April 21 at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Bethesda.
