Back to School: Dr. McKnight’s Vision For First 100 Days

Montgomery County Public Schools [MCPS] looks forward to a full return to classrooms when the 2021–2022 school year begins on August 30.

Interim Superintendent Dr. Monifa McKnight released a community message on Thursday that included her focus for the first 100 days of the upcoming school year.

This vision – PROSPER 100 – commits to various foundational goals. Dr. McKnight explains how it aims to bring students back for better school experiences and highlights the pledges to students, staff, and the local community.

MCPS officials say the summer school programs have expanded to meet students’ social, emotional, mental health, and academic needs. Within the past week, programs began serving more than 52,000 students, many of whom are returning to their school buildings. Unprecedented numbers of teachers and other school staff have also stepped up to support summer programming, according to school system leaders.
