5 Things to Know Today, July 12, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, July 12, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. COVID-19 Testing and Vaccine Clinics: Free COVID-19 testing is available throughout the county at seven testing sites today. Montgomery County clinics are vaccinating residents age 12 and older. Make an appointment here.

2. Council Media Briefing: Council President Tom Hucker and Council Vice President Gabe Albornoz are holding a media briefing today at 11 a.m. to discuss the new minority-owned business bill, provide an overview of the Working Families Income Credit that begins July 15, and provide a public health update.

3. Gun Violence and Homicides: Like much of the country, an uptick in gun violence and homicides threatens public safety in Montgomery County.

4. Pizza With the Police: From 5-7 p.m., join 4th District police officers for pizza and conversation at Ben Yehuda Cafe and Pizzeria located at 1370 Lamberton Drive #B in Wheaton.

5. Municipal Monday: Gaithersburg’s Mayor and Council meet virtually at 7:30 p.m. for a work session.  The Mayor and Council of Rockville meet virtually at 7 p.m. for a worksession on the comprehensive plan for the Montgomery College area and the neighborhoods of Woodley Gardens, College Gardens, Rockshire, Fallsmead, Fallsgrove, King Farm and Shady Grove.
