5 Things to Know Today, July 8, In Montgomery County

Today is Thursday, July 8 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1.Affordable Housing Efforts: Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will be joined by other elected officials and members of the community to celebrate the achievement of preserving and enhancing the availability of local affordable housing. The event will take place today at 11:00 a.m. at the Halpine View Apartment property in Rockville. Click here for more information.

2. Reimagining Public Safety Initiative: Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich launched a new dashboard that allows residents to view the progress of the Reimagining Public Safety Initiative. The dashboard advances the Executive’s commitment for transparency and accountability.

3. Flash Flood Watch: The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Watch for Montgomery County starting this afternoon through tomorrow morning. See the tweet below for more information.

4. Yappy Hour Postponed: Montgomery Parks announced that its Yappy Hour scheduled for July 8 is canceled due to rain. The event will now take place on July 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elm Street Urban Park in Bethesda.

 

5. Grant Funding For Nonprofits: Grants ranging from $10,000 to $20,000 will be awarded to Montgomery County nonprofits whose work aligns with the state’s intent to assist community organizations that create and sustain jobs.
