Five Things to Know for May 14 in Montgomery County

Today is Thursday, May 14, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1.County Will Remain on Stay at Home Order: County Executive and Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles will hold a news conference today at noon to discuss what criteria must be met before additional openings and other activities can be allowed in Montgomery County. This will be taking place outside of the Montgomery County Executive Office Building in Rockville. This will be streamed live on the County’s Facebook page. Click here for more details.

 

2. Digital Social Happy Hour: The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection is hosting a Digital Solar Happy Hour live and online from 5:30-6:30 p.m. to inform residents and small business owners about bringing solar energy to businesses and homes. If you are interesting in joining, click here to register in advance.

3. Read To a Dog Virtually: This is an opportunity for school aged children to practice reading during 15 minute virtual sessions on Zoom with certified therapy dogs. This will take place from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Registration is required, and space is limited. Participants will be emailed a link to the Zoom session, along with their 15 minute time slot.

4. Food Assistance: There are a variety of resources available for Montgomery County residents in need during this time. If you or someone you know is in need of food assistance click here for food distribution sites, donation opportunities, and additional resources.

5. A Reminder to Properly Dispose PPE: After using personal protective equipment, health officials say it is important to make sure it is thrown away properly.
