Five Things to Know for Sept. 16 in Montgomery County

Today is Monday, Sept. 16. Partly cloudy today and tomorrow. Here’s the forecast.

1. Vaping: County Councilmembers Gabe Albornoz and Craig Rice plan a press conference at noon in the Council Office Building to discuss limitations on where vape shops can open for business. 2. Municipal Monday: Rockville’s Mayor and Council meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave. Gaithersburg’s Mayor and Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 31 S. Summit Ave.

3. Downtown Silver Spring:  The Peterson Companies, Foulger-Pratt and Argo Investment Co will hold a community meeting to present plans for the renovation of Downtown Silver Spring. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Silver Spring Civic Building.

4. County Council: Montgomery County Council committees have a big day. The Planning, Housing and Economic Development Committee to discuss licensing, requirements and amendments at 9:30 a.m. in the Seventh Floor Hearing Room. The Public Safety Committee meets at 9:30 a.m. in the Third Floor Conference Room. The State’s Attorney’s Office will brief the committee on crime prevention initiatives.  The Government Operations Committee and the PHED Committee meet at 2 p.m. in the Seventh Floor Hearing Room to work on a development impact tax. The GO committee continues to meet at 2:30 p.m.

5. Story hour: The Wheaton Library is planning Spanish storytime.
