Five Things to Know for May 21 in Montgomery County
Happy Tuesday! It’s May 21 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1. Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Dedication: There will be a one-year anniversary commemoration of the dedication of the Montgomery County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall at the Memorial Plaza in Rockville at 5 p.m. Sue Moats of Capital Cares Quilts of Valor is presenting four Vietnam veterans with their own “Quilts of Valor.” Then, at 6 p.m., a ceremony will recognize families of veterans killed at war.
2. Improve the City of Rockville’s Development Review: The City of Rockville is hosting a feedback session at 111 Maryland Avenue from 7 to 9 p.m. They need feedback regarding short-term recommendations for improving the City of Rockville’s development review and permitting processing to help “make them faster, accountable, smarter and more transparent (under a project named FAST).” Here’s more information.
3. Yoga in the Park: The City of Gaithersburg is hosting a yoga in the park class at the Concert Pavilion tonight from 7 to 8 p.m. Here’s more information.
4. DNA Case in Maryland: MCM’s Doug Tallman will be covering the first of its kind DNA case in Maryland. Defendant Marlon Alexander is going to be sentenced before Circuit Court Judge Richard Jordan for the first-degree rape of elderly victims in Montgomery County at 1:30 p.m. Following the hearing State’s Attorney John McCarthy will speak to the press.
5. Rock the Fountain Kids Concert Series: Today from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Olney’s Rock the Fountain Kids Concert Series will feature Tony M. performing near the fountain. More information can be found here.
