Five Things to Know for May 7 in Montgomery County

Today is Tuesday, May 7. Make sure you thank a teacher today because it’s National Teacher Appreciation Day! Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Council in Session: Montgomery County Council meets today at 9:30 a.m. Here’s a look at the agenda for the meeting.

2. Jawando Press Conference: Councilmember Will Jawando is scheduled to answer questions from the press at noon today, following the council voting on the Law Enforcement Trust and Transparency Act. The LETT Act would require  “investigators from a separate jurisdiction [to] open an inquiry reviewing the circumstances of” cases where an officer is involved in the death of an individual.

3. Capital Improvement Budget Forum: Local citizen advisory boards are hosting a forum for Montgomery County residents to provide input about the county’s six-year capital construction budget. Tonight’s meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Center in Bethesda.

4. Free Excercise Class: Montgomery Parks is hosting a free exercise class tonight at 7 p.m. at Fairland Recreational Park. Here are more details.

5. Solar Co-Op Opportunity: The City of Rockville is hosting an informational meeting tonight to help people learn how to save energy costs by using green energy. The meeting is at 7 p.m. at City Hall at 111 Maryland Avenue. Here’s more information.
