Police Asking for Public’s Help in Identifying Theft from Auto Suspect in Colesville

Montgomery County police detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect that they believe is responsible for two thefts from vehicles.

Police said both incidents happened in close proximity to each other in the Colesville area. According to detectives, property was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on May 27 in the 300-block of Scott Drive.  In a different incident, home surveillance video captured a suspect entering an unlocked vehicle on May 28 in the 13700-block of Stoner Drive, but no property was taken.

Anyone with information regarding this suspect is asked to call the 4th District Patrol Investigations Unit at 240.773.5500. Individuals who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1.866.411.8477. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.

Thefts from unlocked vehicles continue to be a high-volume crime in Montgomery County, according to police. Officers are urging residents to remove valuables from vehicles and locking all doors.
