5 Things to Know Today, Oct. 21, In Montgomery County

Today is Thursday, Oct. 21, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Planning Board Meets: Montgomery Planning Board meets at 9 a.m. Agenda items include the FY23 operating budget for parks, the Wheaton Downtown Study, the 2021 Biennial Monitoring Report for the White Flint Sector Plan area, and more. The public can watch or listen to the meeting online.

2. School Board Meets: Montgomery County Board of Education’s Policy Management Committee meets at 3 p.m. According to the meeting’s agenda, the committee will review a draft of the 2022-2023 school year calendar options. At 6 p.m. the Board of Education meets with the Montgomery County Education Association Board of Directors. Here’s a look at the agenda.

4. Bulb Exchange Program: Bring old incandescent and used CFL light bulbs to Noyes Library for Young Children in Kensington from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and you’ll receive new energy-efficient bulbs.

5. ICYMI: On Wednesday, the Food and Drug Administration officially authorized Moderna and Johnson & Johnson booster shots. The FDA also said mixing and matching boosters is safe. Here’s a Twitter thread summarizing the FDA’s announcement:
