5 Things to Know Today, March 15, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, March 15, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. MCPS Returns to In-Person Learning: Montgomery County Public Schools moves to the next phased return to in-person learning today. Elementary schools reopen for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. MCPS sent out a community update Friday with information about their reopening plan.

2. County Budget Presentation:  County Executive Marc Elrich will present his recommended fiscal year 2022 operating budget at noon. The Council will review the budget and adopt it in late May. The FY22 budget year begins July 1.

3. Congressman Raskin Town Hall:  Congressman Jamie Raskin will hold a telephone town hall today at 5 p.m. to provide an overview of the American Rescue Plan. RSVP online here to receive a call or call in at 877.300.1219.

4. Irish Step Dance Classes:  The Hurley School of Irish Dance will be hosting two beginner Irish step dance classes oat the Rio Boardwalk Stage in Gaithersburg today. The first class at 4 p.m. is for 5 to 17 years olds. The 5 p.m. class is for adults 18 years and up. Registration is required and may be done online.

5. Municipal Monday: Gaithersburg’s Mayor and Council meet virtually at 7:30 p.m. Here are the agenda and the work packet.  The Poolesville Town Council meets virtually at 7 p.m., as does the Town of Kensington. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet virtually at 6 p.m. with a full agenda.
