Today is Thursday, June 17, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.
1.Speed Reduction Program: Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and County Council President Tom Hucker will join the County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) today at 11:00 a.m. to launch the Vision Zero speed reduction program, “20 is Plenty,” in North Bethesda. The program will lower speed limits to 20 miles per hour on targeted streets to promote safer roadways for pedestrians and bicyclists. Click here for more details.

2. COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics: Residents can make first dose appointments or walk into County-run clinics without an appointment. Youth ages 12 to 15 no longer need to preregister for appointments. Parents/guardians can make appointments for them at clinics using the Pfizer vaccine. There are six clinic locations available throughout the county today. Click here for more information.
3. Food Distribution Event: From noon to 3:00 p.m.,Resurrection Baptist Church Community Care Ministry is hosting a Grab and Go food distribution event in Silver Spring. Fresh produce and other food items will be available. Click here for more details.
4. Germantown Splash Park: South Germantown Splash Park and Mini Golf will be open today and tomorrow, Friday, June 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. View more details here.
