Yoga Day Set for June 21st in Montgomery County
Montgomery County’s Office of Community Partnerships invites residents to participate in a free International Yoga Day event on Sunday, June 21, at Kids International Discovery (KID) Museum at the Davis Library, 6400 Democracy Boulevard in Bethesda.
This year’s celebration will include two classes, at 2 and 3:30 p.m., designed for children ages 6-14 and their parents.
The United Nations General Assembly declared June 21 as International Day of Yoga.
“Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being,” said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and nature.”
The program is presented through a partnership with Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett’s Asian Pacific American Advisory Group, KID Museum, the Art of Living Foundation and Mom’s Organic Market.
Admission for yoga classes is free, and open to the public, while additional museum activities require an $8 fee.
