Montgomery County Police are cautioning residents to steer clear of any bears they may encounter after a black bear was photographed in the Damascus area on Wednesday.

There have been other black bear sightings in the Poolesville area of Montgomery County this spring as well.

If you see a bear, you may report it to the Department of Natural Resources Wildlife and Heritage Service at 410.260.8540. Residents are advised to call 9-1-1 if there is an immediate threat because of a bear’s behavior.
