Wootton High School Auditorium Dedicated to Former Principal Michael Doran
Family and friends of Dr. Michael J. Doran gathered Feb. 28 at Wootton High to dedicate the school auditorium in his name.
After serving as principal of the Rockville high school for 12 years, Doran passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 19, 2015.
Family members spoke at the dedication. Doran’s son Sam noted that his father knew all of the students’ names and he knew something about every student. “His goal was to grow a culture that allowed for learning,” he said.
Doran’s wife Kathy Lavinder, said “we celebrate his gift of seeing the best in his students, of encouraging them to achieve their potential whether it was on a sports’ field or a stage like this.”
