Westside at Shady Grove Developers Announce New Retailers and More

In just a few months, the first retailers at Westside at Shady Grove Metro will open their doors in the new transit community located on Crabbs Branch Way and adjacent to the Shady Grove Metro.

The new shops will be located in The Daley, a mixed-use building co-developed by EYA and Bozzuto, that is opening its doors in June.

The Daley includes 333 rental apartments and 17,000 square feet of new retail space along Grammercy Boulevard. Developers say the first retailers to occupy the building will be Starbucks and Beauty Sense Nails and Spa. According to developers, both businesses are targeting September for their grand openings and more businesses are expected to follow.

“We’ve had strong interest in the retail at Westside and are currently in negotiation with a number of exciting tenants,” said McLean Quinn, EYA vice president of land acquisition and development, in a statement. “We anticipate our mix will include several restaurants and neighborhood convenience businesses. We’ve also had several conversations with larger grocery and pharmacy operators interested in future phases of the project.”

In addition, EYA in introducing two new townhome floorplans at Westside: the Fitzgerald and Gershwin -that developers say are competitively priced and ideally suited for families seeking a starter home. The floor plans include a two-car garage, and an optional loft with rooftop terrace.

“The new units were developed to target the ‘missing middle’ in new home construction in the county,” said Quinn. “They provide three bedrooms on one level in a thoughtfully designed, compact floor plan. With prices that start in the mid $500,000’s, this is a wonderful opportunity to own a new home in a walkable, mixed-use community adjacent to the Metro.”

There are currently 50 families residing at Westside, according to developers.

This new community is going up quickly next to the Shady Grove Metro station, and developers report that the new Metro access connection and signal are now open. That means Westside residents can walk from Columbus Avenue to the Shady Grove Station in as little as two minutes.

In addition, EYA has installed three Capital Bikeshare stations at Westside, one at the Metro entrance, one adjacent to the retail core, and another one in the heart of the townhome community. Future plans include a Zipcar station.

The new neighborhood will also have a clubhouse, outdoor pool, community garden and parks.

We are already living in the community and we are ecstatic about the overall experience so far! The home is beautiful and well built, and EYA has been a fantastic, energetic and well-trained group to work with during the entire building process. We are so excited to see the process with each pssing week of the surrounding neighborhood!
