- Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club present a Tribute to Earth Wind & Fire featuring inGratitude at 8 p.m.
- AMP by Strathmore present The Eric Felten Septet with their big band sound at 8 p.m. Tom Koerner and Debra Sternberg of Gottaswing will teach a free swing dance class from 7:15 – 7:45 p.m.
- The Friday Night Live concert series at Rockville Town Square continues tonight with the Tom Principato band playing the blues. The food and beverage tent this week features the American Tap Room. Hours are 6:30 to 9 p.m.
- The Friday Night Dancers present Contra dancing, with a dance lesson from 7:30 to 8:15 p.ml; followed by the called dance to live music from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Spanish Ballroom in Glen Echo Park.
- The American Swing Music and Dance Association lead an evening of swing dance from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the Ballroom Back Room in Glen Echo Park. Beginner swing dance lesson at 8:30 p.m., followed by dance from 9 to 11:30 p.m.
- Olney Theatre presents Bakersfield Mist at 7:45 p.m.
- Gaithersburg Arts Barn presents The Foreigner, a comedy with twists and turns, at 8 p.m.
Saturday, May 21
- The 1st Annual 5K Fun Run at Roberto Clemente Middle School takes place today in Germantown. Come out and support the school’s Physical Education department and the African American Parent Association.
- The Gaithersburg Book Festival takes place today on City Hall grounds from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission and parking is free. Plan you visit with the schedule and map.
- Bring your family and celebrate Spring at the Strawberry Festival in Burtonsville from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event also features a Beer Garden and Carnival that remain open until 11 p.m.
- Strathmore’s new Saturday Family Jazz Sessions hope to instill a love for jazz at a young age. The session is led by Rochelle Rice and is intended for children ages 2-6. Takes place in the Mansion at 11 a.m.
- Adventure Theatre presents The Emperor’s Nightingale at Glen Echo Park today with performances at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- The Puppet Co presents Sleeping Beauty at Glen Echo Park at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Black Hill Regional Park is the site of the Flocks & Farms Festival at the Visitor Center from 1 to 4 p.m. Enjoy hands-on activities, games, exhibits, lectures and more.
- Imagination Stage presents Looking for Roberto Clemente at 1:30 and 4 p.m. in Bethesda.
- Every month on the 21st, the Washington Revels host a community sing to celebrate seasons and cultures. The event takes place at the Bennington Drive park or if raining, the Revels Studio Space at 531 Dale Drive in Silver Spring.
- Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club present the ViKings at 6 p.m.
- Olney Theatre presents Bakersfield Mist at 1:45 and 7:45 p.m.
- The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra led by guest conductor John Storgårds performs at the Music Center at Strathmore at 8 p.m.

Sunday, May 22
- Adventure Theatre presents The Emperor’s Nightingale at Glen Echo Park today with performances at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- The Puppet Co presents Sleeping Beauty at Glen Echo Park at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Imagination Stage presents Looking for Roberto Clemente at 1:30 and 4 p.m. in Bethesda. The show closes today, so this is your last chance.
- Gaithersburg Arts Barn presents the comedy, The Foreigner, at 2 p.m.
- MoCo’s Got Talent takes place at the Silver Spring Fillmore at 5 p.m. The talent show is open and free to the public.
- The “Wear Your Africa” fundraising gala takes place at 6 p.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Building.
- The Rockville chorus presents their spring concert at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
- The Gaithersburg chorus presents their spring concert at the Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church at 7:30 p.m.
