1. The Montgomery County Council tentatively approved the Fiscal Year 2017 Operating Budget. The budget includes an 8.7 percent increase in property taxes.

2. Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld announced the rail system’s ‘Safe Track’ plan on Thursday. The plan includes the closure of the Metrorail system at midnight every night beginning Friday, June 3.

3. The Montgomery County Police Department is hosting Autism Night Out at the training academy in Rockville.

4. Montgomery College will hold a commencement ceremony today at 10 a.m. A graduation guide for students, family and friends can be found online. WAMU radio host Kojo Nnamdi will deliver the commencement address.

5. Today is Bike to Work Day. The Montgomery County Department of Transportation and Commuter Services has set up six stops for bikers with information and safety tips for bicycling around town.
