Here are some of our picks for arts and entertainment this weekend:

Art:

  • Strathmore Mansion’s two exhibits, Colored Pencil Society of America and Blush, are on display from June 10 through August 6.  The two introductory classes on colored pencils scheduled for Sunday, July 9 are sold out.
  • Bethesda’s Gallery B’s July exhibit, Saffron and Tea, opens July 12 and features mixed media paintings by Saya Behman. A public reception will be held Friday, July 14 from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • BlackRock Center for the Arts has two watercolor exhibits on display now through mid-July. The Terrace Gallery exhibit, Beyond Limits, features the work of artist David Daniels from now through July 14. The Mid-Atlantic Regional Watercolor Exhibition is on display in the Kay Gallery from now through July 15 and is a juried exhibit sponsored by the Baltimore Watercolor Society.
  • The Gaithersburg Fine Arts Association presents a collection of multimedia works at Kentlands Mansion through July 7. This is a juried exhibition.
  • “Point of View” exhibit opens at the Arts Barn Gallery Friday, July 7.  The exhibit features photography by Karen Cohen, Shanelle Jacobs, Michael Kuchinsky, Thomas Marchessault, Marleen Van den Neste, and Marc Weinberg. A public reception is scheduled for Thursday, July 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Waverly Street Gallery’s latest exhibit, Private Moments, is on display now through Saturday, July 8.
  • Artists & Makers Studios 1 and 2 in Rockville host five new exhibits opening this Friday, July 7 and continuing through Thursday, July 27. An opening reception at both studios is scheduled for Friday, July 7 from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • An exhibit featuring drawing and sculpture-based works by artists Susan Hostetler, Dalya Luttwak, and Beverly Ress titled “A Bird’s-Eye View” is on display at the Betty Mae Kramer Gallery in the Silver Spring Civic Building now through August 18.
  • Glen Echo hosts Art Walk this Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Music:

Theater:

  • Olney Theatre’s production of My Fair Lady opens Friday July 7 and runs through July 23.
  • Gaithersburg Arts Barn presents Hitchcock’s Dial M for Murder July 7 through 23.
  • Rockville Musical Theatre’s presents Monty Python’s Spamalot at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in Rockville. The musical opens Friday, July 7 and runs through July 23.
  • The Puppet Co. presents The Wizard of Oz now through July 23 at the their theater in Glen Echo Park.
  • Imagination Stage’s production of Wonderland: Alice’s Rock & Roll Adventure runs through August 13 in Bethesda.
  • Adventure Theatre’s production of Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook runs through August 13.
  • Silver Spring Stage’s production of the farce One Man, Two Guvnors continues through through July 29. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and two Sunday matinees on July 23 and 29.
  • Coming up:
    • Rockville’s Wine and Improv Series continue Friday, July 14  at the Glenview Mansion Cottage in Rockville. The series includes a glass of wine and a workshop on improvisational theater led by Stephanie Phelan.
    • Montgomery College’s Summer Dinner Theatre presents Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at the Rockville Campus July 21, 22, 23, 28,29, and 30.
