Here are some of our picks for arts and entertainment from now through the end of the month.

Art:

• Waverly Gallery’s Holiday Art Exhibition is on display from Dec. 6 through Jan. 7. Gallery open Friday and Saturday, from noon to 6 p.m.
• Gallery B’s Cadence exhibition features works by Kristine DeNinno, Damon Arhos, and Clare Winslow. Gallery open Friday and Saturday, from noon to 6 p.m.
• Glenview Mansion Art Gallery‘s Rockville Art League Juried Member’s Show is on display from now through Dec. 30.  The Mansion is open Friday, Dec. 23, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Bright Concepts art exhibit is on display at the Gaithersburg Arts Barn from now through Jan. 1. The exhibit features the works of Mark Altrogge, Nellie Chao, Tony Glander, and Bobbi Shulman. The gallery is open Friday, Dec. 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dance:

• The Maryland Youth Ballet perform The Nutcracker at the Parilla Performing Arts Center in Rockville. Performances include Friday, Dec. 23 at 7 p.m.; Monday, Dec. 26 at 1 and 5 p.m.; and Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 1 and 5 p.m.

Family:

• The Puppet Co. Playhouse presents The Nutcracker for young children and their families. Performances include Friday, Dec. 23 at 10 and 11:30 a.m.; no performances Saturday and Sunday; and numerous performances scheduled daily from Monday, Dec. 26 through Friday, Dec. 30.
• Glen Echo’s Adventure Theatre presents the holiday classic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Performances Friday, Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 24 at 11 a.m., 2 and 4:30 p.m.; and numerous performances scheduled daily from Monday, Dec. 26 through Saturday, Dec. 31.
• Imagination Stage’s production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is a holiday favorite. Performances Saturday, Dec. 24 at 11 a.m.; and numerous performances scheduled daily from Monday, Dec. 26 through Saturday, Dec. 31.

Shopping:

• Glen Echo’s Holiday Art Show & Sale is open weekends and other select days through Jan. 8.
• Sandy Spring Museum’s Holiday Gift Show features fine arts and crafts by the museum’s resident artists. Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Music:

• Soul Crackers return to Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club Friday, Dec. 23 for their annual Holiday Party.
• Biz Markie is the featured artist at the Fillmore Flashback dance party at 8 pm. in Silver Spring.

Theater:

• Olney Theatre presents the musical Mary Poppins. Friday, Dec. 23 at 2 and 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 24 at 2 p.m.; and daily performances Tuesday, Dec. 27 through Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017.
• Paul Morella presents A Christmas Carol based on the classic Charles Dickens novella. Friday, Dec. 23 at 3 and 7:45 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 24 at 3 p.m.; and daily from Tuesday, Dec. 27 through Saturday, Dec. 31.
• Round House Theatre in Bethesda  presents Miss Bennet Christmas at Pemberley Friday, Dec. 23 at 8 p.m.
