Montgomery County is the place to be for holiday light displays. The Garden of Lights at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton is open from Nov. 25 – Jan 1. The Winter Lights Festival at Seneca Creek State Park in Gaithersburg is open from Nov. 25 – Dec. 31. The Festival of Lights in Kensington is open from Dec. 1 – Jan. 1.

Looking for a special holiday gift? The Pleiades Jewelry Show & Sale at the Strathmore Mansion is open Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Glen Echo’s Holiday Art Show & Sale is open weekends through Jan. 8.

  • Support women owned businesses at a holiday pop up shop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fenton Street in Silver Spring.
  • Bethesda’s Winter Wonderland features live ice sculpting, holiday performances and a visit from Santa Claus from 1 to 4 p.m. in Veterans Park.
  • Sandy Spring Museum resident artists host an Artist Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • The Puppet Co. Playhouse presents The Nutcracker with performances at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
  • The Rockville Civic Ballet performs The Nutcracker at the Fitzgerald Theatre for the 42nd year.
  • Imagination Stage’s production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is a holiday favorite. Today performances are at 1:30 and 4 p.m.
  • Blue Sky Puppet Theatre presents Rufus the Rednose Raindog at the Gaithersburg Arts Barn. Recommended for ages 4 and up.
  • Glen Echo’s Adventure Theatre presents the holiday classic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • The Metropolitan Ballet Theatre presents The Nutcracker at the Parilla Performing Arts Center in Rockville.
  • Olney Theatre presents the musical Mary Poppins.
  • Paul Morella presents his one-man adaptation of A Christmas Carol based on the classic Charles Dickens novella.
  • The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra led by Edward Polochick performs Handel’s Messiah at Strathmore at 7:30 p.m.
  • The Arts Barn presents Black Nativity, a unique creation by poet and playwright Langston Hughes that retells the Christmas story using dialogue, narrative, dance, pantomime, gospel song and folk spirituals.
  • Round House Theatre in Bethesda presents Miss Bennet Christmas at Pemberley.
