Friday, August 5:
- Glen Echo’s Art Walk in the Park occurs the first Friday of the month, May through September. Enjoy visiting the open studios and attending various artist demonstrations. Hours are 6 to 8 p.m.
- The Artists & Makers Studios in Rockville will host an opening reception for three exhibits on display this month. The reception from 6 to 9 p.m.
- Rise Band and Show perform at the Bethesda Metro Station Plaza from 6 to 9 p.m. Free.
- Friday Night Live Concert Series at Rockville Town Square features Blues & Soul by The Sandra Dean Band featuring Daryl Davis at 6:30 p.m. Free.
- Wrap the work week up with Gaithersburg’s Zumba in the Park at the City Hall Concert Pavilion at 7 p.m.
- Blues musician James Mabry and friends will perform at Isreal Park behind Lincoln Park Community Center in Rockville at 7:30 p.m. Concert is free. Burgers, hot dogs and soda will be available for purchase.
- The Hipocrites, a Chicago-based repertory company, present The Pirates of Penzance rotating with The Mikado at Olney Theatre. Tonight’s performance is The Mikado at 7:45 p.m.
- The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra present Harry Potter & The Sorcerer’s Stone in concert at The Music Center at Strathmore at 8 p.m.
- The Still Surfin’ band pays tribute to the Beach Boys at Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club at 8 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
- Arts on the Green and Wildwood Summer Theatre presents the musical Nine at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn at 8 p.m.
- The Grow It Eat It Summer Open House takes place today at the Agricultural History Farm Park from 9 a.+m. to 1 p.m. Plan your visit with the open house schedule, here.
- Montgomery Preservation and Silver Spring Historical Society co-sponsor an open house at the Silver Spring B&O Railroad Station from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Gold’s Gym leads a free Zumba workout at Rockville Town Square at 11 a.m.
- Sandy Spring Museum’s eight resident artists are holding an open house today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is an opportunity to meet the artists, find an unique item of artwork or commission a piece.
- The Peach Harvest SunFest music lineup includes New York rapper Talib Kweli, the Dusty Stars and the Forwards, plush food trucks, beer, bourbon, wine and peaches. The festival takes place form Noon until 8 p.m. at the Button Farm Living History Center in Germantown.
- The Hipocrites, a Chicago-based repertory company, present The Pirates of Penzance rotating with The Mikado at Olney Theatre. Today you may choose The Mikado at 1 p.m. or The Pirates of Penzance at 7:45 p.m.
- Arts on the Green and Wildwood Summer Theatre presents the musical Nine at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn at 8 p.m.
- Traditional Taiwanese dances will be performed by Dancing Clouds and Wild Lillies at the Rockville Memorial Library at 7:30 p.m.
- Bethesda Blues & Jazz Club present the Shadows of the 60’s with a tribute to Gladys Knight and the Pips at 8 p.m.
Sunday, August 7:
- Take a guided tour of the Kingsley Schoolhouse located in the secluded ‘Froggy Hollow’ section of Little Bennett Regional Park. Open from 1 to 4 p.m.
- AFI Silver Theatre features Warner Brothers Looney Tunes cartoons this month, presented on 35 mm prints on the big screen.
- Arts on the Green and Wildwood Summer Theatre presents the musical Nine at Gaithersburg’s Arts Barn at 2 p.m.
- Meet the artists whose work is on display in Rockville’s Glenview Mansion at a reception at 2 p.m. A concert by Harmonic Introductions will take place in the Conservatory.
- The Hipocrites, a Chicago-based repertory company, present The Pirates of Penzance rotating with The Mikado at Olney Theatre. Today you may choose The Mikado at 1 p.m. or The Pirates of Penzance 4:45 p.m.
- Berthesda Blues & Jazz Club present Secret Society at 7:30 p.m.
